Who are we?
England2018:The commitee of the swiss-english friendship initiative for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 (in formation)
The committee is managed by Dr Yves Dubey,MD; from Lausanne,Switzerland
Dr Yves Dubey is a former officer of the swiss army (Captain) having been trained in different troups (artillery, corps of engineers, mountain infantery and sanitary troups). He is currently a full member (since 1990) of the swiss association of history and military sciences.
Dr Dubey lived for almost five years in the "Heart of England" (Derbyshire) where he got the opportunity to bind friendship with many people from various background.
The idea to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War in 2018 came from an afternoon's chat held between gentlemen at the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show 2002.At a point Dr Dubey was asked about his origin in Switzerland. After answering he was born in Neuchâtel a gentleman knew that the famous "His Majesties Regiment Meuron" who served in India from 1798 was from the same place.
Dr Dubey realised how both countries have always been linked by mutual friendship and as a passionate of military history and after few glasses of Pim's and Champagne put forward the idea to organise events in England in 2018 to commemorate the End of WW1 and to perpetuate that friendship.
That initiative would be named:"england2018" and it was cheered by all gents (and puppies!)
The year after,in anticipation of the events to be organised,Dr Dubey booked the corresponding domain name.
